Roofer day rates
Roofers in the UK commonly charge £280 to £360 a day for bigger jobs (MyBuilder, 2026). Checkatrade puts the average for a roofer in Doncaster at £35 to £45 an hour. We price by the job, not the hour, so the number on the quote doesn't change if the work takes longer than planned.
What moves the price
- Access. Scaffolding is often the biggest part of a small repair. Bundling jobs while it's up saves paying for it twice.
- The covering. Concrete tiles are the cheapest, clay tiles cost more, and natural slate costs more again.
- The size and shape of the roof. Hipped roofs, dormers, valleys and roof windows all add cutting and leadwork.
- What's underneath. Rotten battens, rafters or a soft flat-roof deck only show once the covering is off. We'll photograph them and agree any change before doing it.
- Building Regulations. Replacing more than a quarter of a roof normally needs approval, which can mean extra insulation and ventilation.
How we quote
The inspection is free. You get the photos and one fixed written price that covers the work, any scaffolding and taking the waste away, with nothing added on the day.
